Cultifact is made and published by Pars Kunt, an individual developer. Here, “we” means Pars Kunt, who is responsible for the personal data described in this policy.
You can write to us about anything in this policy at hello@cultifact.app.
As you use the app, it keeps the following on your device:
The interest profile is worked out on your device. Without an account, none of this leaves your device.
Signing in is optional. You sign in with Apple or Google. We then receive an account identifier and the email address the provider shares, which may be a private relay address from Apple. Some providers also share a display name.
When you are signed in, the app stores the following with your account, so a second device sees the same library:
This data is held by Supabase, our hosting provider, on servers in the European Union. Database rules allow each account to read and change only its own data.
If a date, credit or image looks wrong, you can send a correction from the page. A report contains:
If you are signed in, the report also carries your account identifier. Editors see the report, not your name. Reports are stored with Supabase in the European Union. Please keep personal information out of the note.
We use PostHog, hosted in the European Union, to see which parts of the app are used and to find crashes. Analytics are anonymous: they use a random identifier created when the app is installed, never your name, email address, account identifier or advertising identifier.
The app sends these kinds of events:
With each event PostHog records basic device information: app version and build, operating system and version, device model and type, screen size, language and time zone. PostHog also receives your IP address when the app connects; we do not use it to identify you.
Analytics are on by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings, under Privacy and data. While they are off, the app sends no analytics events or crash reports.
Pro subscriptions and the Founder purchase are sold through Apple’s App Store, and Apple handles payment. We never see your card or bank details.
The app receives your purchase status: which plan you have, whether it is active, and when it renews or ends. RevenueCat, our subscription service provider, processes the App Store receipt with a random app user identifier to confirm this status. If you are signed in, your membership is also stored with your account.
Images and offline downloads are fetched from our storage at Supabase. Like any web request, these requests carry technical data such as your IP address. We do not use them to build a picture of you.
Links under Go further, and links to museums, open in your browser. Those sites are run by others and have their own privacy policies.
We use a small number of service providers, each for the purposes above:
Where a provider handles data outside the European Economic Area, it does so under recognised safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on:
Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
To use any of these rights, write to hello@cultifact.app. We answer within one month. Anonymous analytics may not be linkable to you; turning them off stops new data.
To delete what is on your device, open Settings, then Privacy and data, and choose Delete my data on this device. Removing the app also removes it.
To delete an account and everything stored with it, you can delete your account in the app or by writing to us at hello@cultifact.app.
Cultifact is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we tell you in the app before it takes effect.
